Type
2 Part/Spec Approval Review
2.7.6.2:
Type-2 Parts/Specification Approval (vehicle
specific)
Type-2 approval is for parts/specifications
specific to a vehicle model that
is already homologated for competition
within the World Challenge Series,
and has its VTS sheet finalized.
A written request shall be submitted
utilizing the official request
form available for download on
the official web site. The form
must be filled out completely.
The criteria for a part to be approved
is that it must be available to
all teams at the published price,
the price must be reasonable, it
must be deliverable to any team
within 14 business days after the
order is placed, and it does not
exceed the performance criteria
for that vehicle as determined
by the SCCA Pro Racing Technical
Staff. Additionally, because all
teams competing with a vehicle
may be required to utilize any
newly approved part, the input
of all teams utilizing the vehicle
in question should be submitted
along with the written request.
The reasons for requesting any
change in the VTS specified parts
shall be well reasoned, well researched,
and valid. The parts that are subject
to the 14-day availability requirement
are those that get listed on the
VTS sheet, or in the PRR, with
a part number.
The
Technical Staff will review the
request and do any research deemed
necessary. The request will be
posted on the Web site along with
the official decision of the Technical
Staff. Once the decision regarding
the request is made, the newly
approved part will be eligible
for use in World Challenge competition
14-days later. The VTS will then
be revised to list the newly approved
part, and the revised VTS will
be posted on the official Web site.
There may be a fee associated with
Type-2 Parts/Specification approval
if the amount of research required
is greater than normal.
