2006 SPEED World Challenge Schedule Complete; Touring Cars Return to Denver, GT to Debut at Long Beach
SCCA Pro Racing announced today the addition of two venues to its 2006 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge calendar, bringing the season total to 10 races each for SCCA SPEED GT and Touring Car.

Motorsports photographer, John Thawley, announced today the release of his SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Year in Review 2005 book. The hardbound 54-page book will feature Thawley's photography and a race by race recap of the 2005 SCCA Pro Racing season.

“Mad” Max Seals Deal in SPEED GT at Laguna Seca, Pilgrim, Cadillac Ear First Championship
“Mad” Max Papis, of Miami, Fla., made a championship-caliber pass on two cars on Lap 14 of the 20-lap SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT race Sunday afternoon at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and then held on through a late full-course caution to earn his second win of the year in his No. 16 XM/Mobil 1/Motorola/Bose Cadillac CTS-V and Cadillac its first SPEED GT Manufacturers’ Championship Presented by Racer Magazine.

Rookie Angelone Wins SPEED Touring Car Finale at Laguna, Cunningham, Acura Win Championships
Rookie driver John Angelone, of Bridgewater, N.J., earned the first SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car victory of his career Sunday at the Monterey Sports Car Championships, driving away from the rest of the field in his No. 19 Pit Bull Energy Drink/Stand 21 Audi A4 to win the 26-lap race by 5.214 seconds.

One Step Closer: Cunningham Inches Toward Championship With First SPEED TC Pole of Season At Laguna
Peter Cunningham, of W. Bend, Wis., moved even closer to his fourth-career SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Drivers’ Championship Saturday, earning his first Air Force Reserve Pole Position of the season for the SCCA SPEED Touring Car season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Cunningham’s chief rival in the Championship, Randy Pobst, will start second.

Henzler Earns Pole for SCCA SPEED GT Finale at Laguna Seca
Wolf Henzler, of Nuertingen, Germany, carried over his record-shattering times from Friday into Saturday’s SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT qualifying session, earning the top spot for Sunday’s season-ending race after ripping off a 1:30.387 (89.137 mph) in the No. 55 Applied Materials/Farnbacher Loles Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The mark was 1.1 seconds better than the previous best of 1:31.469 he set a year ago.

Cunningham in Control After SCCA SPEED Touring Car Practice at Laguna Seca
It is too early to say he has thrown the hammer down, but SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car point leader Peter Cunningham, of West Bend, Wis., made a strong showing Friday during practice, handily sweeping both sessions in his No. 42 A-SPEC/RealTime Racing Acura TSX.

It’s just days before Andy Pilgrim will take to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey, Calif., where, this weekend, he will attempt to finish off the 2005 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT season with his first SPEED GT Driver’s Championship.
