Henzler Holds Off Said For SPEED GT Win at Laguna
German Wolf Henzler captured his second SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship win in as many tries, holding off Boris Said, of Carlsbad, Calif., to win the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Tommy Archer, of Duluth , Minn. , finished third to win his first SCCA SPEED GT Drivers’ Championship, while Audi clinched the Manufacturers’ Championship Presented by Racer Magazine.    Continued...

Altenburg Gives Mazda 6 First SCCA SPEED Touring Car Win at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Jeff Altenburg, of Ellicott City, Md., gave the new Mazda 6 its first SCCA SPEED World Challenge Touring Car victory, while also grabbing his second-career SPEED Touring Car win in the season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, as part of the Audi Sports Car Championships. Henzler Captures First Career SCCA SPEED GT Pole at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Germany’s Wolf Henzler captured his first-career SCCA SPEED GT pole today in preparation for Sunday’s SPEED GT season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Henzler, who has never raced at the 2.238-mile circuit, is gunning for his second SPEED GT win in as many attempts, while Michael Culver, of Westport, Conn., will start on the outside of the front row.    Continued...

Galati's "Day" Job Means No RealTime Ride, Dobson To Pilot No. 43 Acura
Michael Galati, of Olmsted, Ohio, was prepared to substitute in the No. 43 RealTime Racing Acura TSX this weekend in place of regular driver Matt Plumb, who has elected to stay home with his expecting wife. However, his SPEED GT efforts have taken priority, and former race winner and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca specialist Ken Dobson, of Carmel Valley, will now pilot the car.    Continued...

Pending Paternity Prevents Plumb From Making Run at Championship
Matt Plumb of Newport, Rhode Island, will be unable to compete for the 2004 SCCA Speed World Challenge Touring Championship this weekend at Laguna Seca due the impending birth of Plumb and his wife’s first child, which was due last Monday. Plumb is disappointed not to be able to get the chance to follow up on his Rookie of the Year honors last season with a championship this year, but is overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a father.   Continued...
