SPEED Touring Car Driver DeCastro, Family Perish In Plane Crash
SCCA Pro Racing SPEED Touring Car driver Lucho DeCastro (44), his wife and two children were killed in a private plane crash Wednesday in northwestern Arizona, the Associated Press reported Thursday.

Pobst Wins Closest Race in SPEED GT History, Aschenbach and Porsche Take 2006 Championships
Randy Pobst, of Gainesville, Ga., drag-raced Ricardo Imery, of Caracas, Venezuela, down the front stretch of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to win the 2006 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT finale by 0.0310-second, the closest finish in SPEED GT history. The victory also earned Porsche the SPEED GT Manufacturers' Championship Presented by RACER Magazine. Rookie Lawson Aschenbach, of Gaithersburg, Md., crossed the line in ninth to win the SPEED GT Drivers" Championship.

Curran Tastes Victory, Kleinubing Wins SPEED Touring Car Championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Eric Curran, of East Hampton, Mass., scored a dominant victory in the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, part of the Monterey Sports Car Championships, while his teammate, Pierre Kleinubing, of Coconut Creek, Fla., earned his fourth Drivers' Championship.

Fresh off his first-career pole at Road Atlanta in September, Eric Curran, of East Hampton, Mass., earned his second-consecutive pole of the season for the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED Touring Car Finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, part of the Monterey Sports Car Championships. Jeff Altenburg, of Ellicott City, Md., led practice Friday for the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car season finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Altenburg"s morning session time topped all, including Mazda teammate Randy Pobst in second and third place Eric Curran.
