World Challenge Announces 2011 Schedule
WC Vision and SCCA Pro Racing today announced six of the eight venues and the first 10 races that will showcase Sports Car Wars and make up the planned 12-race 2011 World Challenge Championships campaign. In this, the 22nd consecutive year of North America’s top professional series for production-based sports cars, World Challenge competitors will once again contend for Driver, Manufacturer and Team Championships in the individual GT, GTS and Touring Car categories. Cunningham, Pobst On Ballot For 2010 Auto Racing All-America Team
Three SCCA Pro Racing Drivers’ Champions have been nominated for the 2010 Auto Racing All-America team, voted on by more than 250 members of the motorsports press. SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series Champion Tony Ave has been nominated in the Road Racing category, while World Challenge GTS Champion Peter Cunningham and World Challenge GT Champion Randy Pobst are on the ballot in the At Large category. WC Vision today announced that StopTech, a leading innovator of world-class brake components and systems for production-based racing cars and high performance vehicles, has been named the Official Brake System of the World Challenge Championships. As the Official Brake System of World Challenge, all series teams will have the option of using StopTech brake systems. Pirelli Tire North America has been selected as the Official Tire Supplier for the World Challenge Championships, inking a five-year partnership that puts the prominent production-based series on racing slick tires.
