COTA: Many New Experiences
Thankfully, the 2013 Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Championship is now well under way after a fantastic triple-header race weekend at Circuit of The Americas. The event marked many firsts and new experiences for me. It was the first time I raced a front wheel drive car, a 2013 Honda Civic Si. It was the first race with my new team, Shea Racing. It was also my first time racing in the Pirelli World Challenge and my first time racing at Circuit of The Americas. Personally, I had mountains of new information to process.   Continued...

Sofronas, Lee Take Sunday GT and GTS Wins in Austin
James Sofronas, of Villa Park, Calif., earned his third Pirelli World Challenge GT win of the 2013 season Sunday, taking the Cadillac Sports Car Challenge at Circuit of the Americas. Andy Lee, of Colorado Springs, Colo., took his first GTS class win of the season.   Continued...

Brett Sandberg, of Allendale, N.J.,  and Ernie Francis Jr., of Davie, Fla., scored wins in Round Three of the Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car and Touring Car B-Spec championships at Circuit of The Americas Sunday, part of the series’ Cadillac Sports Car Challenge weekend.    Continued...

O’Connell, Aschenbach Win Saturday Pirelli World Challenge GT, GTS at COTA
Johnny O’Connell, of Flowery Branch, Ga., led all the way to win Saturday’s Pirelli World Challenge GT Cadillac Sports Car Challenge Round Four race at Circuit of the Americas. Lawson Aschenbach, of Jupiter, Fla., captured the GTS class win, holding off a charging Andy Lee at the finish.   Continued...

O’Connell and Aschenbach Score Pirelli World Challenge GT, GTS Poles at COTA
Defending GT drivers’ champion Johnny O’Connell, of Flowery Branch, Ga., notched his first Pirelli World Challenge GT Motul Pole of 2013 on a sweltering Friday afternoon at Circuit of The Americas. Winchester, Francis Jr. Earn Pole at COTA
Ryan Winchester, of Mason City, Iowa, scored his second career Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Pole and led a pair of teammates to the top of the time sheets on Friday at Circuit of The Americas. Fifteen-year-old Ernie Francis, Jr., of Davie, Fla., scored his first career Touring Car B pole in the same session to set the grid for Saturday’s Round 1 Pirelli World Challenge Cadillac Sports Car Challenge TC/TCB race.   Continued...

Johnny O'Connell in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V.R and Lawson Aschenbach in the No. 10 Blackdog Speed Shop Chevrolet Camaro posted the fastest laps in Friday's Pirelli World Challenge GT and GTS qualifying sessions at the Cadillac Sports Car Challenge at The Circuit of The Americas (COTA). The Touring Car and Touring Car B classes of the Pirelli World Challenge got the 2013 season underway Thursday at Circuit of the Americas, opening the season with a 30-minute practice session in advance of the Pirelli World Challenge Cadillac Sports Car Challenge tripleheader. Jon Miller to make Pirelli World Challenge debut at Circuit of The Americas
The 2013 season brings new challenges and new opportunities for Jon Miller, who will be contesting the full 14 race Touring Car Championship in a Honda Civic Si with Shea Racing. Though he is no stranger to professional sports car racing, having won and stood on the podium multiple times in the Grand Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge competition since 2006. In 2007, Miller was part of the championship winning team and finished fourth in the 2008 Grand Sport Driver Championship. He will make his debut in the Pirelli World Challenge series this weekend during the triple-header race weekend at Circuit of the Americas.   Continued...
